The Crosby Scholars Program is a unique college access program for students in grades 6-12 enrolled in the Rowan-Salisbury School System. The online application is open each year to all RSSS students in grades 6-10 from August 15th-October 1st. All students who apply are automatically accepted. Our vision is to ensure that every public school student in Rowan County has the opportunity to experience the life-transforming possibilities of higher education.
Each year, students enrolled in the Crosby Scholars program participate in Crosby Scholars Academy - a series of academic and personal enrichment workshops featuring grade specific information sessions to help prepare students for the college admission process as well as academic excellence and personal growth. Students are also expected to perform community service, remain drug free and participate in random drug testing in high school, as well as obey all school rules and refrain from receiving out-of-school suspension.
Crosby Scholars receive helpful college counseling services through high school group-mentoring and senior year one-on-one college advising. Crosby Scholars also have opportunity to take part in career exploration activities, college visits, and have access to important timelines, checklists, and overall college readiness support. Students completing the program in grades 10, 11, and 12 are eligible to apply for "Last Dollar Grant" scholarships for college.
